The 2018 amendments in SASKATCHEWAN PNP (Provincial Nominee Program): Expression of Interest System

The Saskatchewan province declared a chief amendment to its Saskatchewan PNP
Recently, as a supplementary to the existing first-come, first -served model, the two popular streams of Saskatchewan introduced an Expression of Interest (EOI) system to organize its new applications. All these amendments have already started to reflect from July 16th, 2018.

The adjustments made to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) will impact the most popular Saskatchewan Express Entry and Saskatchewan Occupation In-Demand streams. At present, these two initiatives employ a first-come, first-served model for welcoming the Saskatchewan PNP latest applications.

First-come, first-served model:  Most of the programs belonging to this model have already been out-of-the-way. Sometimes, Saskatchewan will open a single or both of the programs to accept a limited number of Saskatchewan PNP applications. The programs will happen to close again after going to the threshold limit. The intake periods hardly last longer than 24 hours. On the other hand, both of the Saskatchewan PNP programs will be shifting to an Expression of Interest model for organizing applications.
Expression of Interest model: Federal Express Entry System is the key idea behind the introduction of the Expression of Interest (EOI) Model. It is basically a two-step procedure wherein the prospective candidates submit the Expression of Interest first and then classified depending on the information contained within the EOI. Once this is completed, the shortlisted candidates who get the maximum score receive the invitation to submit the application to the Saskatchewan PNP.

Saskatchewan has declared that the potential candidates will be ranked/shortlisted from one another based on the points assigned by the Saskatchewan PNP Points Assessment Grid. However, the candidates should have experience in one of Saskatchewan’s In-Demand Occupations to be part of these two programs.

The growing popularity of Expression of Interest Model:
Ever since the Expression of Interest model became a part of the federal Express Entry in the year 2015, it has been gaining significant prominence in managing the Saskatchewan PNP applications. Immigration authorities are also using EOI model to select the most extremely skilled immigrants from the pool of candidates who applied for Canadian PR. Saskatchewan also joined its hands with the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba as they use EOIs in their immigration systems.  Recently, the province of Quebec has declared that it introduces an EOI system in the coming months.
