Manitoba PNP’s New Immigration Pathways to International Students for Canada PR

It is a great news for the international students as the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has introduced its new immigration pathways. The immigration pathways which have been introduced are International Student Entrepreneur Pathway and Graduate Internship Pathway.

Kelvin Goertzen- the Education and Training Minister has stated that, “By providing students a fast track to nomination for permanent residency, we hope to attract and retain more talented innovators and entrepreneurs from all over the world.”

“International students bring new ideas, global connections and an entrepreneurial spirit to our province and when they create opportunities for themselves, Manitoba becomes more competitive and innovative.”

In order to attract skilled candidates for working and preferring to invest business, the Manitoba PNP was created in 1998. But years later, in 2018, the International Education Stream with a Career Employment Pathways have been introduced for graduate students belonging to Science, Technology and Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) programs.

How are the two programs beneficial?

The International students can take a massive advantage of becoming a Canadian Permanent Resident by choosing the program based on their eligibility.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR PATHWAY: It helps the graduated students in establishing a business in Manitoba. The candidates have to complete at least a two-year program at a post-graduation institute of Manitoba. Under this 2-year pilot program, the candidates can take an advantage of availing a temporary work permit.

GRADUATE INTERNSHIP PATHWAY: Within this pathway, candidates who have completed their master’s or Ph.D. in a university of Manitoba are opened for an internship which is supported from the Mitacs. It is a national-not-for-profit organization for building partnerships among the industries and universities. However, the funds are provided from the Manitoba government.

The Scientific Director and CEO of Mitacs, Alejandro Adem said that, “Mitacs is proud that our programs can support this endeavour, which in turn leads to economic growth in the province.”

Additionally, the Education and Training Minister added that, the Manitoba PNP is expecting over 70 graduates to qualify for the Graduate Internship Pathway, 2018-19.  Hence, with the new launch of the pathways introduced by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, the international students can experience the better pathways for achieving permanent residency.
